Our Founder's Mission
As the owner of Ryan Employment Law, Cody Ryan brings a unique perspective to the legal field. Cody has a neurological condition that requires him to use a wheelchair, giving him a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities.
after graduating from the University of Kentucky where he majored in journalism, Cody applied to jobs at various news stations. Most job postings required applicants to carry it 20 or 30 pounds up a flight of stairs. That is when Cody leaned about how employer's are allowed to advertise jobs with requirements that are necessary for applicants, under the employment discrimination defenses job relatedness, and what a qualified individual is in ADA terms.
When he did some more digging, Cody learned that individuals with disabilities often have a tough time at work. Cody learned about people with disabilities struggling to get the accommodations that worked or the employee to earn a livelihood, and the employer's writing these accommodations off as an undue hardships. Cody knew a problem was occurring, and he decided to take action to fix it.
Cody decided to go to law school. At Chase Law School in northern Kentucky, Cody worked through law school with the intention of graduating and fighting greedy employer's who put lining their pockets with profits over the needs of their employees. Cody was on the 2022 arbitration team where he learned to try arbitration cases. Cody was eager to join the arbitration team in case he had to fight employer's who put arbitration agreements in an employment contract.
Because Kentucky has one of the highest rates of disability in the country, Cody felt he had an obligation to help people with disabilities in Kentucky. Not only that, he wanted to help all Kentucky employees with problems at work. Cody also knew that Kentuckians pried themselves in their work ethic. He knew that a steady work force leads to a healthy economy. Cody knew he had help employees in Kentucky.
With a passion for rooting out discrimination and advocating for employee rights, Cody is committed to helping individuals navigate through legal issues in the workplace. His personal experience drives his desire and obligation to assist people with disabilities.
